  Mtn Bike Maintenance Clinic!

This will mark the 1st of 2 summer maintenance clinics geared towards mtn bikes. Whether you are a total beginner, have some basic skills or a seasoned veteran… these clinics have something for everyone. There will be a ride & BBQ to follow so bring your bike, your questions and your energy. There is no charge, however pre-registration is recommended… call 250-979-432 or e-mail

 Group Mtn Bike Rides
Wether it's CO-ED or LADIES ONLY, Wednesday nights at Venture Gear are all about the group ride. Co-ed rides are led by Nick Stefanovic & Jeff Zeitz, offering a challenge for intermediate to advanced mountain bikers. For women we offer CHICKS IN THE STICKS! This group of beginner to intermediate riders is led by fitness trainer Liz Sage of Team Fitness and sponsored by Quality Greens. Assisted by Cory Tout, Liz takes the women on a different route every week… challenging, their fitness, strength and skill in a single-track environment.
Summer group ride sessions are free and run from July 1st thru August 26th with a wind up BBQ to follow the final ride. To register for the co-ed rides call Nick at 250-979-4327 and for the Chicks in the Sticks ride you can e-mail Liz Sage. It is recommended that riders meet at the shop no later than 5:45 with helmets, water bottles or bladders and a bike in good working order. See ya soon!

 BMX Racing in Kelowna!
The newest and most exhilarating Olympic sport has over 25 years of history right here in Kelowna. Located by the Rutland Sports Fields just south of the YMCA and behind the Rutland Arena you will find the Kelowna BMX track and clubhouse. You will also find the Venture Gear BMX Team.
With a foundation based on sportsmanship, the team of 30 Venture Gear BMXers includes male & female athletes ranging in age from 6 to 50+… yep… 50+ !!! Along with a number of other Kelowna teams they take part in practice on Mondays from 6-8PM and race for local points every Wednesday at 7PM… April thru October. Several members of these teams also compete in District, Provincial, National and International events across British Columbia, Canada and around the world. Next Provincial qualifier is this coming Saturday, July 18th at the Langleytrack and the next National event runs July 24, 25 & 26 at the Cumberlandtrack. The Kelowna track is open daily to the public, weather permitting, from 7AM till dusk.
 NEW for MOUNTAIN BIKERS… MTBmx Challenge total points series running from July 8 thru August 26. This is an affordable race series for those mountain bikers wishing to test their skills in a "head to head" 4-cross style environment… check it out!!!

 Shaums March Clinic and Marin Demo Day
Shaums' annual visit was another success for Mad March Racing, Marin Bikes and Venture Gear.
On Saturday, July 4, 2009 Shaums (and Mark "the assistant") shared their world class mtn bike knowledge & skills with 2 groups of enthusiastic participants. Many of Saturday's participants went to the next level and took part in the Sunday & Monday MMR camps at Silver Star Resort. 
Braden from Marin Canada was also at the shop and spent the day outfitting clinic participants with award winning Marin Demo bikes.
Keep your eyes and ears open for next year's visit and demo day!!!
