The Rose Valle
y trail gnomes have been hard at work punching out a new trail full of switchback fun, a fast flowy descent, and one of the best views in Kelowna. JabbaRocky is a cross country / all mountain trail that can be accessed from the gate at the dead end of Rosewood in West Kelowna. Head down the dirt road, past the gate towards the Rose Valley dam (approx 1.4 km). The entrance will be in a small gravel pit on the left side of the road. There should be a few red flags to get you started. The climb is approximately 6km, and crosses the old lake loop trail several times. In all cases keep climbing the uphill switchbacks. There are exactly a bazillionteen of them. At the JabbaRocky trail sign turn in and enjoy.
The descent is roughly 3km long, and while there are no stunts on the trail yet, JabbaRockey boasts some of the best rock gardens Kelowna has to offer.
The only split in the trail comes almost at the end, where there is an optional “easy-out” to the left, while the right hand option weaves riders through a rocky boulder field.
As this is a new trail, any help packing it in is much appreciated. Think you’re up to the task?

Rode the “jabbarocky” today. Wow! What a lot of work.I did enjoy the uphill probably more than the downhill.Overall a great quick ride. Thanks for all your hard work.
if you continue to the top past “jaberrocky” you will end up at the start of “The city on the Edge of Forever” new trail down to lake. Go slow as some corners are quite loose but should improve if we ever get any rain again. log ride will be widened eventually as well as some other tricky section but I have cleaned it in Its current condition so good luck and have fun
Rode it today
beautiful trail. Nice area, nice climb. I was kinda thinking about my full-face and pads when I was on the DH. Some fairly steep spots and no shortage on jagged rocks on the descent. I could write a whole book as a review, but I’ll just say it is a must-try.
thanks boys, we had an awesome time exploring this trail. looks like a lot of time and TLC went into it. thank you for the experience!
Two questions from an out-of-towner:
1) Is the trail okay to ride now ( April 7th)?
2)Your direstions say go to the end of Rosewood drive which then turns into a dirt road.
Google Earth shows that this road connects to McDougall Rd – Am I in the right area?
What I am asking is… Am I going up McDougall Rd to enter the trailhead?
Trail’s good to go.
McDougall road, as it appears on the map, doesn’t exist. Check out the map in satellite version and you’ll see there’s a cul-de-sac. Park there, ride through the gates up the road (approx 1.4 km). The entrance will be in a small gravel pit on the left side of the road. There should be a few red flags to get you started.
Thank-you very much. Rode it last week and it was very fun.
The climb reminded me of the “Stimulis” trail in Pemberton
