Strong People Needed for Myra Bellevue Park Signage Install!!!

Installation of the interpretive signs – Angel Springs Trail, Myra-Bellevue Provincial Park Saturday, August 16th, 2008

On Saturday Aug. 16, FOSS is installing the Angel Springs Trail interpretive signs. They were developed by a volunteer committee and funded by Interior Savings. There are a total of 10 signs to be installed at various locations along the 3.2 km trail. Four will be delivered to the actual sign site by BC Parks staff using quads, but the remaining six  posts and signs need to be carried in.   Three of these go at the end of the trail, at Angel Springs. A copy of the information sign & map is attached.
The distance between where the last six posts & signs are dropped off by BC Parks to where the last sign is located (Angel Springs)  is about 1.4 km.

We need 2-3 strong individuals willing to carry the sign posts & signs (carried separately) from the BC Parks drop off site to the installation site. The posts are 6×6 with a plywood frame and they weight between 60-69 lbs each —- that’s why we’re trying to get young guys!

A separate crew is digging the post holes and installing the signs.

We would really appreciate help on this project. The commitment is:
- meet at the new Angel Springs parking lot at 8 am
- walk up to Myra Bailout/Angel Springs Trail junction and start hauling posts. The plan is to have  2 people per post. If we can get 4- 6 volunteers it will mean fewer trips.  I’m still hoping BC Parks can deliver in the two posts and signs that go between the Bailout Junction and the fireguard, meaning fewer trips for the people carrying the posts.

I’m hoping that this can be done in 4-5  hours so we’ll be finished noonish.

Please phone me at (250) 764-2303 by Thursday night Aug. 14.

Thanks,
