Vapour Trail Repair Day a Success!

FOSS Group ShotOn Sunday, May 31st Members of MTBco, FOSS (Friends of the South Slope), BC Parks and Telus (Telus Day of Service) worked hard and had a lot of fun repairing a wet section of Vapour Trail. Vapour trail is a very popular hiking and mountain biking trail and is beginning to show signs of wear.

The wet section is mid way down Vapour and is about 40 feet long. The group bridged the low lying area at the bottom of the section with logs and rocks found in the area. The bridging went so quickly due to the hard work of all the volunteers that everyone decided to get a bit of a start on the mud holes at the beginning of the section. Many of the holes were filled with rocks but will still require future work.

Vapour Trail DayAt the end of the day two MTBco directors, one MTBco member and a FOSS director hiked down to the two eroded chute sections of Vapour just below the wet area. A future MTBco/FOSS partnership project will see improvements to both of these chutes that will reduce erosion but still maintain the fun factor of the trail.

MTBco would like to thank FOSS and the great group from Telus for their efforts in getting this project organized and for all their hard work on the day of the event. MTBco looks forward to working with FOSS on future projects.
