We have a one time chance to let our city officials and planners know how important our trails are!!!
DO YOUR PART…
Visit: kelowna2030.ca and fill out the survey! (It took a whole ten minutes to do!)
Take the opportunity in the comment sections to tell our officials that our trails matter and that they should be included in the revision of our “Official Communty Plan”. We want our planning department to have policy in place that forces developers to inventory any trails on lands they wish to develop and replace any trails removed by development with new ones. This is known as a “no net loss” policy for trails.
Also let them know that they should provide long term funding to the Parks Department to support the Mountain Bike Strategy!!!
This is how we protect local single track from development and expand and improve local mountain bike facilities. This is how we ensure that our interests are protected as Kelowna grows into the future…
Imagine the Future!
What will Kelowna be like in 2030? How can we make sure our children will still want to live here when they grow up?
How can we be more sustainable? How can we protect the environment, eliminate gridlock, and enhance the economy, all at the same time?
They’re important questions, and they’re really best answered by you, the people who live here.
As part of a new public planning program called Kelowna 2030: Greening Our Future, we’re looking for input from a wide range of citizens and groups.
The end result will be a revised Official Community Plan that will guide our land use, development, transportation and infrastructure decisions for the next twenty years.
Complete survey #1 so that this plan responds to your concerns, come out to one of our events, check out the information on this site, join a discussion, or write a quick e-mail.
We need to hear your ideas…and you could win one of three prizes
