The MTBco (Mountain Bikers of the Central Okanagan) held their first membership drive/fund raiser event Wednesday April 23rd at the Kelowna Community Theatre. The mountain bike film “Kranked 7″ was shown along with the original “Kranked” movie, prizes were given away, posters were signed by professional riders and dream bikes were shown off by local bike shops. All said and done there were over 400 tickets were sold exceeding our expectations. The club signed up the vast majority of attendees as new MTBco members! The vibe was amazing with all in attendance looking forward to another great season of epic mountain biking in the Central Okanagan.
The new mountain bike club, MTBco will now be continuing on with its work with the City of Kelowna Parks Department as they move forward with their mountain bike strategy as well as working towards holding trail maintenance days, Jr. rides and offering corporate sponsorship opportunities. The club would like to thank The City of Kelowna Parks Department for their help in arranging the premiere, all local media who were so kind as to get the word out for us and all local bike shops for their support.
The club would also like to acknowledge all of the local trail builders and keepers of our trail networks for their dedication and hard work. It is through the efforts of all independent trail builders (you guys know who you are) and organizations such as FOSS, BC Parks, RDCO and the City Parks Department that we all have the great trails that we do!
Let’s all look forward to a future of protecting our existing trails and expanding into new riding areas! Thanks everyone.

Have you heard of the Harper Hoe Down in Kamloops? Maybe Kelowna could think of doing something similar.
I did it last year and it was a hit.

I have only heard of the Harper Hoe Down, don’t know much about it really though. Thanks for tip…we will have to check it out and see what it is all about.
good idea of preserving the trails. i just all all individuals (bikers & non-bikers alike) would keep this concern in their minds.. not to destroy existing trails, but the environment too!
